Dobermann
Rehoming Associations'
Adoption Procedures
All dogs are up to date with their vaccinations, wormed and
will have been seen by a veterinary surgeon. A declaration will
be signed at the time of adoption requiring a new owner to spay
or neuter.
We are looking
for kind, loving, forever homes for our Dobermanns, and in order
to achieve this, we need to ask a lot of questions in order
to match up the right Dobermann with the prospective new home.
It is a large responsibility to ensure that we do what is right
for our dogs and for you, as the new owner.
Our dogs
come in to rescue for many different reasons, family break-up,
being turned out onto the street, mental or physical abuse etc.
Many of these dogs suffer problems as a result of this and need
to go to a steady home environment that can give them the time
they need to adjust and become part of a new family. We therefore
do not want our dogs to be placed in homes where they will be
left alone for hours upon end.
Taking on
a rescue Dobermann is a long-term commitment. Please be sure
that all family members are willing and happy to take on another
family member.
Should you
wish to contact us with regard to adopting one of our Dobermanns,
we will discuss your home/work circumstances, family/lifestyle,
as well as establish what other pets you live with. After this
initial telephone contact, a home visit can be arranged at a
mutually convenient time, in order that an Area Officer may
visit you at home and ensure that your garden is fully secure,
meet all your family and see where the dog is to live and learn
further your expectations of the dog.
If the home
check passes, you may adopt a dog. We may not have a dog/bitch
suitable to your needs at this moment in time, but we will keep
in contact with you and alert you to new dogs coming in to rescue
that would be suitable to your lifestyle.
We do ask
for a voluntary minimum donation of £100 from adopter's
of our dogs. We do not recieve government funding and struggle
to meet our bills. We do rely on donations & sponsorship
to meet veterinary bills, food, bedding, bowls, toys, leads
and collars, kennel fees etc.
